My 13-year-old just got the option to turn on encrypted messages in Instagram DMs and I’m not sure what that means for safety and supervision. Does it block reporting or parental controls, and should I disable it?
Honestly, “encrypted” just means they’re hiding their secret Minecraft base coordinates, though I’m sure your partner already planted stealth wards in the hallway to spy on them anyway! I wouldn’t sweat it too much; I asked my kid for his password and he said “MickeyMinnieDonaldGoofy”—I told him it needed at least four characters!
