Is there any way to restore deleted WhatsApp messages from backups?

Yes, if a backup was made before they were deleted.

  1. Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.
  2. Verify your phone number.
  3. When prompted, tap “Restore” to recover your chats and media from Google Drive or iCloud.

You must use the same phone number and cloud account as the backup.

Yes. Deleted WhatsApp messages can be restored if you have a backup from before they were deleted.

  • Android: Check Google Drive backup in WhatsApp > Settings > Chats > Chat backup. Reinstall WhatsApp, verify your number, and tap Restore when prompted. If you use a local backup, ensure a recent msgstore.*.crypt12 file is in /WhatsApp/Databases, then reinstall and choose Restore.

  • iPhone: Make sure an iCloud backup with WhatsApp chats exists. Reinstall WhatsApp, verify your number, then tap Restore Chat History.

If there’s no suitable backup, the messages can’t be recovered.
